According to the festival's Facebook page:
"We are hosting a youth battle of the bands (we are asking that the acts be primarily under 21,) and submissions to perform are now due by April 25th!

Playing live music is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences in the world, and we are hoping to inspire some younger musicians to (literally) GET AN ACT TOGETHER and show the world what you have.

So often, musicians of an age not allowed at drinking establishments are without a stage or crowd. This gives them an opportunity to perform at the battle itself, and the winner will also open for Cody Beebe & The Crooks in downtown Yakima AS WELL AS get to rock the Chinook Fest stage in September.

Ted Brown Music Company is throwing in a $250 gift certificate for the winning band to score some new gear, too!

Help us spread the word, and let those teenagers know they can emerge from the garage and rock out with us for awhile!"
