AC/DC Reveal Plans for New Album and Tour
For those about to rock, here's some big news: AC/DC have been relatively quiet these past couple of years, but it looks like 2014 is gonna be a big year for the legendary hard rock act. Singer Brian Johnson says the band plans to hit the studio this spring, as well as plan a new tour.
In promoting his participation in the Palm Beach Grand Prix car race, Johnson phoned into radio station 98.7 the Gater, during which he revealed the big AC/DC news. Asked by host Andy Preston whether the band had plans for 2014, Johnson said, "Well, you’ll be the first one to know,” he said. “Really, because we’ve been denying anything, ’cause we weren’t sure and one of our boys was pretty ill and we didn't like to say anything and we're pretty private about things like this because he's a very proud man… But I think we’ll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready.”
But Johnson didn't stop there, as far as plans for AC/DC. The vocalist also disclosed that the band is planning to tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary. The group has largely been absent from the touring scene and the studio due in part to the undisclosed ailment suffered by one of their band members, which Johnson alluded to above.
In the same interview with 98.7 the Gater, Johnson says, "It’s been 40 years of the band’s existence. So I think we’re gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we’ll have to go out, even though we’re getting a bit long in the tooth. You know what?! It’s been four years [since we last toured], and I’m really looking forward to it."
