There’s an old saying that if it’s too loud, you’re too old. However, we’re not so sure that adage applies to the New Hampshire town in this particular case, where a woman was arrested after blaring AC/DC‘s anthem ‘Highway to Hell’ at 1AM.
The battle for Queensryche rages on. After being booted from the band earlier this year and then engaging in legal battles with the former members over the rights to the name, former Queensryche singer Geoff Tate has posted the lineup for his version of the band. This situation is turning into a soap opera.
All That Remains, who have been in the news a bit lately due to singer Phil Labonte’s outspoken comments and controversial opinions on gun control and Tom Morello, have dropped their new single ‘Stand Up (Stand Up)’ from the upcoming disc ‘A War You Cannot Win.’ The verdict? It’s another ATR song primed for rock radio.
If you’re a Green Day fan, then the next several months are going to be good ones for you, as the band is flooding the marketplace with material. Not all of it is new, either. Ahead of the trio’s upcoming trilogy -’Green Day ¡Uno!’ (Sept. 25), ‘Green Day ¡Dos!’ (Nov. 13) and ‘Green Day ¡Tré!’ (Jan. 15)- the band is also planning a career-spanning, eight-CD box set, due Sept. 4.
Green Day are one of the biggest bands in music in general, regardless of genre. They rose from the ranks of Northern California to Warped Tour perennials to eventually having a musical based on one of their albums (‘American Idiot’). They are about to release a trilogy of albums in the next few months. But it wasn’t always this rosy. Turns out the trio got paid a measly $100 to play Cleveland dive the Euclid Tavern back in 1992, two years before they exploded with ‘Dookie.’
Stage diving. It’s an art and not really a science. Actually, we take that back. It is an art and a science, since biology factors in when the adrenaline takes over. That means that listening to one’s brain often goes out the window, all in the name of ROCK! Music is a powerful motivator, and as you can see from this mash-up video of epic stage dives, compiled by our friends at Loudwire, music can drive rock stars to do some pretty crazy things.
Lily Allen gave birth to her first child, daughter Ethel Mary, last November after suffering two previous, high-profile miscarriages. Now, rumors abound that she and husband Sam Cooper are expecting their second child this December.
This might sound a bit morbid, but Smashing Pumpkins‘ singer Billy Corgan, who just issued ‘Oceania,’ knows which song he would like to have played at his funeral. Turns out it’s one of the singer-guitarist’s own tunes. That’s not really surprising, given the depth and breadth of the Pumpkins’ expansive catalog of alt rock hits, which dominated the airwaves in the ’90s. So which one did he choose?
Guitar god Zakk Wylde is a proud papa again. Wylde and his lovely wife Barbaranne welcomed their fourth child, son Sabbath Page Wielandt Wylde, into the world last night (July 4). That’s quite the rock ‘n’ roll name, isn’t it?
