Stephen King’s ‘It’ Will Still Be Two R-Rated Movies, ‘Hopefully’ Filming Later This Year
While Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of Stephen King’s sprawling horror epic It has now joined the list of great films that might have been, New Line hasn’t entirely ditched the plans set out by the former True Detective director. The studio is still planning on adapting the novel into two films, with the first focusing on the characters as children and the second following them as adults. And though we still mourn what Fukunaga’s version could have been, take solace in knowing that New Line is at least targeting an R rating.
Original ‘Star Wars’ Print Is Discovered and Restored by Anonymous Group
Back in 1997, George Lucas re-released the original Star Wars trilogy in digitally altered “special editions,” and asserted that these were the only “true” editions of the classic films. The original, unaltered versions became rare — you can find them on VHS, and they are included on a DVD release (though the transfer is poor), and there are some original 35mm prints floating around, but fans have been desperate for Lucasfilm to restore and re-release the unaltered versions on Blu-ray. While we wait for something that may never come, one anonymous group has uncovered an original 35mm print and cleaned it up.
‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ Reveals More Mysterious Viral Marketing
Just as they did with Cloverfield, Bad Robot has been toying with fans by releasing some very mysterious viral marketing for 10 Cloverfield Lane. In addition to some info about John Goodman’s character and the subliminal images hidden in trailers attached to Deadpool, now comes even more intel for you to puzzle over and dissect for the next couple of weeks.
‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ Trailer: Everyone Outside Is Dead
Bad Robot unveiled a new trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane during last night’s midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, and although producer J.J. Abrams has said that the film is more of a “blood relative” than an actual sequel, the marketing isn’t doing anything to particularly dispel the whole sequel notion. Between the Cloverfield branding, the viral marketing and the mysterious monster-like sounds at the end of the trailer, this movie appears to be more and more of a sequel than Abrams would have us believe.
Nicolas Cage Will Try to Kill His Own Kids in ‘Mom and Dad’
Earlier this week, Nicolas Cage signed on to star in Vengeance: A Love Story, a film that — at the time — sounded like the most Cage-appropriate movie ever, and that title’s not even the half of it. Now comes word of another film that could give Vengeance a run for its money, as Cage is reuniting with his Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance director for Mom and Dad, a movie in which he will try to kill his own children.
Rumor: New ‘Saw’ Sequel on the Way From the Writers of ‘Piranha 3D’
Rumors have persisted for years that Lionsgate wasn’t quite done with the Saw franchise — even though the last sequel was titled Saw 3D: The Final Chapter. But titles are meaningless as long as there’s money to be made, and with that pesky Paranormal Activity franchise out of the way (for now), it looks like Lionsgate is reviving the franchise that introduced us to James Wan, Jigsaw and a multi-film timeline so convoluted it would give Quentin Tarantino the spins.
‘Eddie the Eagle’ Super Bowl Spot Features Glowing Endorsements From NFL Players
Eddie the Eagle looks like it could be this generation's Cool Runnings, maybe, sort of — anyway, it looks charming as all get-out thanks to Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman, two actors who have charisma just seeping out of their pores. Although it's not a huge blockbuster movie with superheroes, it is a heartwarming sports dramedy, which makes Eddie the Eagle's new ad debuting during the Super Bowl sort of a no-brainer.
‘The Wolverine’ Sequel Will Reportedly Begin Shooting in April
Aside from Hugh Jackman’s “Old Man Logan” tipoff during last year’s Comic-Con, we don’t know much about The Wolverine 2. Director James Mangold is returning to the helm of the upcoming sequel, which doesn’t yet have a formal title, though it is expected to hit theaters in 2017. According to a new report, we may be learning a lot more about Jackman’s final outing as the iconic X-Men character as filming is set to begin this spring.
‘Deadpool’ Wants You to Get Touchy-Feely in New Cancer Awareness PSAs
The marketing geniuses behind Deadpool have been taking some unconventional tactics: there was that hilarious poop emoji billboard, and the billboards / posters promoting the film as a Valentine’s Day romance, and now the Merc With a Mouth wants you to get handsy with yourself, promoting a little self-love with some new PSAs about cancer awareness — for him and her!
Vin Diesel Shares Some ‘xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage’ Set Photos, Is Feeling Blessed

Today brings some…interesting…photos from the set of xXx 3, featuring Diesel, some crew members, and one of his female co-stars. And as always, Diesel wants you to know that he’s feeling #blessed.

‘The Chickening’ Is a Bonkers Remix of ‘The Shining’ That Will Melt Your Brain
The Chickening played the festival circuit over the past year, totally blowing the minds of audiences at Sundance, Fantastic Fest and more with its completely bonkers and inventive “remix” of footage from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Integrating chicken costumes, silly hats and faces, and the best possible manipulation of Shelley Duvall’s eyeballs you’re likely to see in your lifetime, The Chickening is an ode to insanity that you need to watch immediately.
