Selah Community Days is back this week (May 18-May 21), and you don't want to miss any of the action. It is always such a fantastic time. Kicking it off is the excellent Hobo Feed at the Selah Civic Center, 216 S. First St.
I am ready for Central Washington Bike Nights to get started! Our first stop is at Westside Pizza this Tuesday (May 16). Westside Pizza is all ages, so even if you don't ride, you can bring your kiddos. And this year we have a kid prize for them to sign up for -- a brand-new bicycle!
Sometimes I love to go to a yard sale. You can really find some good stuff. It seems like every yard sale I go to in the Yakima Valley always has a huge amount of clothes. It is very rare that I will buy clothes from a yard sale. It has to be really good clothes -- like a leather jacket, boots that I can clean or vintage clothing for fun.
There is nothing like reading a book. I love movies and the internet, but when it comes to engaging your imagination, only books will do the trick. It's extra exciting to actually meet the authors of great books -- and Yakima Valley Libraries are giving us one more chance before summer to do just that.
I have lived in quite a few places where it is essential that you have some supplies in your vehicle while traveling. I have made many treks across the United States, Canada and Mexico as well -- where places to stop and get things are few and far between...
I was headed up Summitview Avenue and enjoying a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The traffic was pretty good and the weather was really nice. Everyone was out hiking or fishing or just having some fun. Sometimes, though, the most fun in Yakima is watching everyone else have fun. I saw some pretty cool sights just driving around. One left me wondering why I sold some of the old cars I've had.
I can drink all kinds of beer, but I admit it, the cheap beer is always the best! I bought a 12-pack of Busch last Wednesday. If I drink beer during the week, I am not very happy the next day, so I always wait until Friday or even Saturday night to have a beer.
The only thing more gratifying than getting in shape is getting in shape for a good cause. And it's even more fun if you can take your dog along. That's what the upcoming Yakima Strong 9K4K9 Fun Run/Walk for the Yakima K-9 Unit is all about -- the dogs!
I have planned to go to Sturgis again for a really long time. I went back in the '80s when it was pretty hardcore. Everyone was naked back then. Nowadays you cannot get away with the "no clothes" part, but it's still fun. The Legendary Sturgis Buffalo Chip has announced this week that Ozzy Osbourne will be playing on their bill! Holy crap! That is such good news.
