Our popular farmer's market is expanding their schedule this summer.
Traditionally, Yakima's weekly market is held on Sundays from May until October, but now organizers say they're expanding the market, to Tuesdays.
Being a Mayor I get a lot of different requests, some of which I gladly accept. For example, a 4th grade class was assigned a project. They were to write a letter to the Mayor and offer up proposal for a zoo in Yakima.
Tonight, at the Yakima City Council meeting, the group will consider a special events policy related to security. In specific, Yakima police overtime.
The city currently spends $50,000 on Police overtime for special events such as the Sunfair parade and other community events like the PNWU 5K fun run and the May Day march.
The question is, who should pay for what?
