Todd Lyons

My name is Todd E. Lyons. On the radio you may know me as “Todd E. Lyons, Esquire.” I have been on the airwaves in Yakima since 1989 and look forward to it every day. I was born in Seattle, the son of a sharecropper. My family and I moved to the “Fruit Bowl of the Nation” when I was a wee lad of only 7. I spent my formative years in the West Valley of Yakima, indoctrinated in public school. I became keenly familiar with the “special” desk while attending Apple Valley Elementary. The teachers referred to it as the “isolation booth,” but I called it the “special desk.” Most of what I know today, however, can be credited to the “School of Hard Knocks.” I currently reside in East Valley with my lovely wife, Carrie, and our son, Drew. I am extremely fortunate to work on the very radio stations I grew up listening to. So much so that I not only was once a client, I became an employee! If you ever see me stumbling about this great valley of ours, please give me a shout. I would love to talk with you about rock music, sports, individual liberty or whatever spins your beanie!

Todd’s Take: Summer Fun On I-90! Some Dude’s Boat Fell Off Its Hitch In the Middle Of the Highway [VIDEO]

On Saturday, after helping to announce the 64th annual Moxee Hop Festival parade, my wife, son and I jumped into our car to head to Seattle to pay homage to Ken Griffey, Jr. as he returned to the Emerald City to have his jersey number officially retired by the club.

We were pressed for time because we wanted to get there as early as possible to get our hands on on of the 20,000 replica Hall of Fame plaques that were being handed out for free to the fans on a first-come, first-served basis.

Then, somebody threw a monkey wrench into our travel plans.

As part of the Seattle Mariners weekend-long celebration of Ken Griffey, Jr.'s induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame almost two weeks ago, "The Kid" kicked-off the first of many tributes by raising a gigantic flag bearing his old jersey number 24 atop the iconic Space Needle earlier today.

Todd’s Take: My Seven-Day Facebook ‘Marriage Challenge’ — In One Day!

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine "tagged" me to take the seven-day Facebook "Marriage Challenge."

I'm not sure of the rules or object of the game, but I do know this -- there's no way I'll remember to post a pic of me and my wife for an entire week, so I figure I'll do it all at once!

Todd’s Take: Ken Griffey, Jr. Takes Fans Questions After Hall of Fame Induction [VIDEO]

I had a dream of mine come true this weekend when I was able to attend the 2016 National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cooperstown, New York to see Mike Piazza and Mariners great Ken Griffey, Jr. enter the Parthenon dedicated to the greats of the game.

While the ceremony itself on Sunday at the Clark Sports Center was certainly a highlight (being spotted by family and friends on the MLB Network's television coverage was cool too!) I think I may cherish the roundtable discussion the two players had with hall-of-fame writer Peter Gammons the following day at Doubleday Field. Unlike their humble and heartfelt speeches the day before, neither player broke down into tears this time as it was a much more casual and lighthearted conversation with many laughs.
