Batman: Arkham Knight Officially Pushed to 2015

Batman: Arkham Knight
Rocksteady Studios

There had been rumblings that Batman: Arkham Knight might not make its 2014 release, and Rocksteady has just confirmed the final Bat-venture won’t take place until next year.

Speaking with Kotaku, Dax Ginn, producer at Rocksteady, said, “Awesome takes time.” Rocksteady isn’t the only developer who feels that way, as Arkham Knight is merely the latest in a long line of games originally scheduled to arrive in 2014 that’s seen its release date slide into the new calendar year.

“[In] collaboration with our colleagues at Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics, we have decided to extend the development time of Batman: Arkham Knight,” Ginn added. “Now, the very simple reason for doing this is to ensure we are delivering the awesome level of quality that Batman fans and gamers expect from this, the final episode and the epic conclusion to the Rocksteady Arkham trilogy. The Dark Knight will face his ultimate challenge in Batman: Arkham Knight now to be released in 2015.”

While we’re more than willing to wait for Rocksteady to close out the Arkham trilogy proper, it’s a shame another high profile Xbox One and PlayStation 4 exclusive title is waving goodbye to 2014. We’ve already lost The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, The Order: 1886, Mad Max and The Division. These probably won’t be the last announced games to see release dates slip either. About the only games you can count on coming out every single year on time are Call of Duty and Madden these days.
