A Bellingham couple recently had all three of their infant children confiscated by the state for birthing them in their own home and refusing to take them to the hospital, even though none were in imminent danger.
Erica May Carey and Cleave Rengo are not "officially" married but have three children, including a set of twins, all under the age of one year.  They chose, based largely on religious belief, to deliver the children in their home and have since used homeopathic remedies and practices with their kids. Child Protective Services since has intervened claiming the couple was not using "proper parenting" standards.

Since being in custody of the state, the couple's oldest son has developed pneumonia and the parents, who are only allowed one visitation a week, missed their child's first birthday last week.

In a recent televised interview with KING 5 in Seattle, the mother wept as she stated, "Every time it's like torment to my soul when they pull them away from my breasts. Those are my babies. They're our children. They have no right to them."

See their story here and let us know if you think the state was right to step in.
