The third annual Chinook Music Festival kicks off tonight at Jim Sprick Community Park in Naches.

The festival is getting high praise as one of the best small fests on the West Coast and is attracting artists that are getting national notoriety such as Sturgill Simpson, whose new album was recently profiled in Rolling Stone magazine and recently performed on David Letterman's show.

The festival is, obviously, outdoors and many come, not just for the 2 1/2 days and evenings of nonstop, live music but also for a chance to camp out and enjoy nature one last time before the fall winds bring a chill and snow.

If you are curious, or have never been, take 90 seconds to watch this video to get some flavor of what the Yakima Herald-Republic has already tabbed a "bigger and better" event. The music is performed by Yakima favorite Blake Noble, who will be onstage Sunday.
