There's still plenty left on the release calendar for 2015, but some bands are starting to set plans in motion to make sure the early portion of 2016 is filled as well. One of those bands is Black Stone Cherry, who are in the early stages of their fifth studio album.

Talking with Metal Hammer, vocalist Chris Robertson revealed, "We're gonna start recording in October or November and hopefully have the album ready to be released in the spring next year, after the Carnival of Madness tour. We hope to have a new song out for radio before we come over for the Carnival tour."

Speaking of the Carnival of Madness trek, Black Stone Cherry will join Shinedown, Halestorm and Highly Suspect on the U.K.-based run in January and February. And while the band clearly has a plan to record and release new music, fans might not have to wait until 2016 to hear a new song. In fact, a new track just turned up in a set at their Download Festival appearance.

"We did this one new song 'Roadrunner' and it was awesome," stated Robertson. "I saw people singing along by the third chorus and that's how you know you've got a song that people can latch on to."

He goes on to add, "The new stuff we're working on is heavy and it's got an intensity. It's kind of leaning back to our very first album. The cool thing is we've recorded two songs so far and we're gonna go back later this year and record the new album in the same place we did the self-titled debut."

The group is spending a majority of their summer in Europe on tour, but do have a handful of U.S. shows. Check out their full touring schedule here.
