More like Husker Don't.

Fans who regularly pray before their copy of 1984's 'Zen Arcade' that alternative pioneers Husker Du will one day get back together should probably begin moving on, according to former frontman Bob Mould. In a recent Reddit AMA, Mould, 53, said it's unlikely he, bassist Greg Norton and drummer Grant Hart will reunite. The band released six full-lengths -- including the landmark double-LP concept album, 'Zen Arcade' -- between 1983 and 1987.

"Husker Du was a great band but there's no need to get together and play music," Mould said. "Everyone went their own ways in early 1988. Some things can't be replicated, and those eight years are best left untarnished."

Following the break-up, Mould went on to form the outfit Sugar in 1992 with bassist David Barbe and drummer Malcolm Travis before disbanding three years later. When asked whether or not they all still talk, Mould said, "We've all stayed in casual touch over the years. David's band opened for my band a few years ago in Atlanta. Malcolm is attending the Boston show this Friday (Sept. 12)."

He also spoke on the current state of the music industry in general, saying that while album sales may never recover from their current downward spiral, there will always be a demand for live performances.

"I am concerned that the music business I learned is mostly gone," he said. "I get concerned when music is treated as an addendum to other art forms (video games, for instance). When I hear friends who work in film scoring telling me about major houses not paying well for the work, I get concerned. Everything changes, I suppose. The constant is the communal nature of the art form -- getting people in the same room to hear live music."

Mould released his 11th solo album, 'Beauty & Ruin,' in June and is currently on tour in support of it with Cymbals Eat Guitars. He's also slated to play Riot Fest in Denver on Sept. 21 before heading to Europe and the U.K. in November. Check out all his tour dates here.
