Earlier this year, Cage the Elephant added a different approach to their stage show with the "Live and Unpeeled" tour dates, which featured the group playing stripped down arrangements of their songs with a string quartet and additional percussion. Those special shows have now yielded a brand new album for the group as Unpeeled will arrive on July 28 via RCA Records.

The album features performances taken from shows in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Knoxville and Nashville, and it features 21 tracks in total. Of those 21 songs, 18 tracks came from their past four albums, while there are also three re-imagined versions of existing songs, including a cover of the Wreckless Eric song "Whole Wide World." A video of the "Whole Wide World" performance can be viewed above. The clip was shot at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

Singer Matt Shultz says of the project, "Many times you’re adding sonic layers looking for something to hide behind, and what you don’t realize is that that vulnerability and that nakedness might be the most compelling and interesting thing about the song."

The Unpeeled album is currently available for pre-order via Amazon, iTunes and GooglePlay. You can also check out vinyl options for the disc via the band's webstore.

Cage the Elephant are currently on tour in Europe but will be back stateside by mid-July, with primarily festival dates booked in the U.S., Canada and Mexico into the fall. See all of their scheduled stops below.
