17 years ago today, people in the Northwest were reveling in the stunning victory the Seattle Mariners had pulled off against the California Angels less than 24 hours earlier to advance to the playoffs for the first time in their history.
As folks gathered around the water cooler the next morning, attention was quickly shifted when word that the jury seated in the "Trial of the Century" had come to a verdict after a months long trial.
I first heard of the idea of not shaving for the month of October a couple of years ago. This year, I'm going for it.
Breast cancer does not discriminate, even men can fall victim. Although men are much less likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer it does happen. Males comprise about 1% of breast cancer diagnosis each year. According to the Susan G. Komen foundation for the cure, 2,140 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and of those approximately 450 will die from the disease.
There have been a few male celebrities that have been open about their diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and are helping to raise awareness about male breast cancer.
With all the excitement & fair fever that has been going on over the past 5 days and will continue to go on for the remainder of the month, I enjoy the fair! I always do, although there were certain things that as I waited for Theory of a Deadman to rock the stage, I couldn't help but feel were missing.
