Yakima Radio Legend Interviews Baseball Legend

Growing up in Yakima and being fascinated by the radio, I cannot remember a time when I wasn't familiar with the voice of Frank Taylor.

Likewise, as a dyed-in-the-wool "seamhead," I don't recall a day in my life that I was not a fan of the Great American Game -- baseball.

Job Opening: Yakima’s Seasons Performance Hall Seeks New Director

Last week, Yakima's gem The Seasons Performance Hall announced the upcoming departure of Director Ellie Strosahl.  While Ms. Strosahl deserves much credit for developing a burgeoning venue and her shoes will be hard to fill, it also presents an excellent opportunity for whomever is deemed fit to take the reins and build upon the tradition that has been put into motion.

My 9-year-old son Drew is a baseball fiend. Period.

Ken Griffey, Sr. Talks Baseball, Family on KATS

Earlier this morning, I had the distinct pleasure to get to chat with Ken Griffey, Sr. as he is promoting his new book Big Red: Baseball, Fatherhood and My Life in the Big Red Machine.

I asked Senior about his current life in the game of baseball, what made Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson so successful, what he remembered most while in attendance at his son's - Ken Griffey, Jr. - induction into the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame last year, and what advice he had for parents and kids alike trying to develop successful young players.

He also spoke about why he thinks there are fewer African-Americans than ever playing at the Major League level since the color barrier was broken by Jackie Robinson and whether or not he thinks Pete Rose should be included in the Hall of Fame.
