Rise Above Festival
Micah Gummel

Avenged Sevenfold, Seether, Trivium, Hellyeah + More Rock Rise Above Fest in Maine

Rocking for a cause is something Seether know a lot about. Their Rise Above Fest was born in 2012 and made its triumphant return to New England again this year on May 10 at the Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor, Maine. The festival, the brainchild of Seether frontman Shaun Morgan, aims to raise funding and more importantly, awareness about suicide-- something that Morgan has a deeply personal connection with after the loss of his brother Eugene in 2007.

Ken Griffey, Sr. Talks Baseball, Family on KATS

Earlier this morning, I had the distinct pleasure to get to chat with Ken Griffey, Sr. as he is promoting his new book Big Red: Baseball, Fatherhood and My Life in the Big Red Machine.

I asked Senior about his current life in the game of baseball, what made Hall of Fame manager Sparky Anderson so successful, what he remembered most while in attendance at his son's - Ken Griffey, Jr. - induction into the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame last year, and what advice he had for parents and kids alike trying to develop successful young players.

He also spoke about why he thinks there are fewer African-Americans than ever playing at the Major League level since the color barrier was broken by Jackie Robinson and whether or not he thinks Pete Rose should be included in the Hall of Fame.

Ben Swann’s ‘Truth in Media’ Visits ‘The Big Show’

Ben Swann is a journalist who speaks truth to power.  I first became aware of him when he was doing an in-depth segment called "Reality Check" at a Fox affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Earlier this morning, I had the opportunity to ask this now independent reporter why the mainstream media seems to never give us the whole truth about a story.  I also asked why, in his opinion, does the media seem to only present stories about seemingly trivial topics.

His answers were revealing and surprising.

New Movies: ‘Non-Stop,’ ‘Son of God’

Two very different features hit theaters this weekend. The first is an action-thriller with Liam Neeson (seems like all he ever does is action-thrillers these days, doesn't it?). The second tells the story of Jesus Christ. So yeah, pretty different.

Lamb of God, ‘As the Palaces Burn’ – Film Review

"Music is the only reason why I'm not in prison," Randy Blythe says during the intro of 'As the Palaces Burn.' The Lamb of God singer has no idea that he'll soon foreshadow one of his life's most traumatic and heartbreaking ordeals. Of course, in a tragic piece of irony, music became the reason why Blythe found himself one gavel away from spending the next 10 years in prison.

Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics – What Is Curling and How Do You Play?

The one event that I have been looking forward to the most at the winter games is Curling. The combination of chess, bocci ball, shuffle board and a household chore all together on a sheet of ice. Sounds weird, right? Well, it kind of is. At the same time, it takes a high level of precise skill and focus and is fun to watch...unless you don't understand the game.

Wondering how to play? Here is a rundown of how the game works.
