Earlier tonight (April 26) on KIMA-TV's Action News, Sports Director Alan Sillence pulled back the curtain to his own office to reveal his collection of memorabilia that he has held on to during his tenured career in television covering sports in the Yakima Valley and Central Washington. At the end of his sportscast, he solicited viewers to send in photographs of their most sacred of places.

There's a saying that goes something like, "The sun doesn't shine on the same dog's behind every day". Basically, one can't expect to have everything go in their favor all the time. My 16 year-old son, Drew, is putting that adage to the test.

The madness of March may be over, and the sting of a National Championship opportunity lost and undefeated season hopes for the Gonzaga Bulldogs is done, but somebody in the Yakima Valley is pretty excited right now! Remember our MILLION DOLLAR BRACKET CHALLENGE...

The wait for the complete return of Our National Pastime has never felt longer but, mercifully for us "seamheads", today is the day that the Great American Game finally begins again! Baseball is back and I couldn't be happier.

Earlier today, the Yakima Valley Pippins Baseball club announced that they now actively trying to secure host families for their 2021 roster of college-aged players.

It was 41 years ago today (Feb. 22, 1980) that a group of college kids took down the mighty Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War to deliver what is still believed by many to be the greatest moment in American sporting history and one of, if not the, greatest upset in the history of sport altogether. I distinctly remember it because I was lying in a hospital bed as a 9-year-old suffering from kidney failure.

it took an extra year (damn you, COVID-19!) but it appears that arena football will be returning to Yakima in just a few weeks! Hooray, football!

While the playoffs were one-and-done for the most recent incarnation of the Seattle Seahawks, there is still a chance for some postseason accolades for the team, thanks to their fans -- the 12s!
