Yes, we old folks had fun before video games came out. I came of age as video games were making their debut on the world market. Pong was a fixture at drugstore entrances when I was about 10 so I don't take being able to play Madden 17 on my iPhone for granted because my experience provides the context of how far we've come.

Prior to computer technology becoming widely available however (I had Coleco's "Electronic Quarterback"), toy makers had to be incredibly inventive. Enter the vibrating team sports platform. I didn't have the basketball game you see in the photo above but I did have the football game and it was AWESOME!

By today's standard's it's a joke but at the time the visceral experience the lifelike representation of an NFL football stadium really got me going. Even if it was based on complete luck the fact the styrofoam football in my running backs hands had vibrated across my opponents goal line inspired smack talk only a 10 year old boy wearing his favorite teams model plastic helmet can deliver.

If I find the football version with all the parts I'm going to buy it. Now if only I can find another 10 year old trapped in a 52 year old man's body to deliver a smackdown to!
