Code Orange are speaking out after a mosh pit incident recently left one female fan with a broken jaw and went outside the typical mosh pit etiquette. During a recent show at Salt Lake City's Kilby Court, Emily Hoffman was left with a broken jaw and faced multiple surgeries after a guy in the pit decided to use his steel toed boots to deliver a roundhouse kick to her face.

"He hit my jaw so hard that it moved the entire thing to one side breaking it in two places on each side," says Hoffman in a Facebook post. "My right side of my jaw was no longer connected to my skull or muscle, it was still in my face because of my skin." It was also revealed that Hoffman was standing just outside of the mosh pit when she was struck by the offender, who reportedly ran off after his action.

Hoffman says her jaw has been restructured and she also had some bleeding in the brain, which has since been stopped. She spent six days in the intensive care unit of the hospital and her jaw has been wired shut.

"I had a hard time figuring out what the worst part was about my situation for a bit. Between the medication that is being pumped into me all day everyday, getting my jaw shattered, having to get reconstructive plates put in, being confined to a bed for the next few weeks. There are many more I could list," says Hoffman. "I finally figured it out. When you go to a show where there will be moshing and you wear steel toe boots, your intentions are to hurt someone. when you swing kick your feet in your steel boots you're trying to hurt someone. When you hit someone in the face then you see her unconscious and you run off to not get caught. You're something else, I really don't have the words for what you are."

Meanwhile, Code Orange addressed the situation at a recent show, stating, "You know we're all about having fun and doing whatever the f--k you want, but knocking out little girls does not make you tough." Watch footage below.

The band has also directed fans toward a GoFundMe campaign that Emily has set up to help offset her medical costs. She is currently looking at a three month recovery period and she will be unable to work for the next few weeks, with her medical costs expected to be very high. "No one should ever leave a show in this condition, no matter what kind of music you are going to support," concludes a post on the GoFundMe page. "Have fun out there but please, not in such an inconsiderate and violent way. Please be mindful." Donations may be made here.
