Cottage Cheese: It’s Not Just For Your Thighs, Ya Know

We’ve been told to put a little more “umph” into our headlines. But I won’t do exclamation points, I won’t, yet. It seems to work, but it feels like shouting. SHOUTING! See?

Anyways, here’s this rather innocuous piece about cottage cheese so back to Headline Writing 101, when done.

Now the story:

Only 17% of Americans know how cottage cheese got its name, and others have some pretty-dad-gum-wild theories.

Less than one-in-five know cottage cheese got its name because it was originally made in cottages. 7% think it was named after its inventor, Harold Cottage and 5% think it’s produced by cows who live in indoors cottages. Wow.

About three-quarters of Americans say they like cottage cheese, according to a new survey. But just because we like it, that doesn’t mean we’re going to bother to learn even the most basic information about it.

Cottage cheese was originally made in small country cottages using the milk that was left over from making butter. Only 17% got that right.
