Farmers and ranchers are creative people who can put that creativity to work and improve the bottom line for their operations - according to Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack. Vilsack says Value-Added Producer Grants enable them to develop new product lines to grow their businesses and expand their contributions to the nation’s economy. USDA is making 30-million dollars available to farmers, ranchers and food entrepreneurs through the VAPG program. Vilsack says this support is especially important for beginning farmers, military veterans engaging in farming and smaller farm operations participating in the local and regional food system..

The National Grain and Feed Association and the American Feed Industry Association have released a hazard communication compliance guide for consideration and use by grain handling, feed, ingredient and processing facilities. With a June 1 implementation deadline approaching for compliance with major elements of the OSHA's recently revised Hazard Communication Standard, the associations created the document to ensure the industry is prepared for updated compliance requirements.
