Frontman Dave Grohl Has ‘Crazy Idea’ for Next Foo Fighters Album
Much has been made about Foo Fighters old-school approach of recording to tape for their most recent album,'Wasting Light,' and now frontman Dave Grohl is promising an unconventional approach to the band's next album.
Grohl tells Billboard, "[I've got] a crazy idea of what I want to do with the next record and how we record it. It's not conventional. It won't be a conventional record." Grohl kept his cards close to the vest, choosing not to say exactly how the band would record the effort, especially since it's in the really early stages.
Drummer Taylor Hawkins added, "It's just sort of a germ in Dave's head at this point. He says he's got a lot of ideas. We haven't really gotten down to brass tacks. I don't know what the path will be. It's always a little different, which is good."
Grohl confirmed that the band is writing for the new album. He added, "When we start working on a record, what I've found is we work best at our own pace and sometimes it happens quickly and sometimes it takes awhile."
In the interview, Grohl and Hawkins also talked of doing more Sound City Players performances. However, both alluded to how difficult logistically it is to get all these different musicians to have their schedules line up for shows. Having already played the Sundance and South by Southwest festivals, as well as shows in New York and Los Angeles, both rockers stated that they still think there's more Sound City Players shows left in them.
