Most recently, a tractor-trailer rig in Pennsylvanian turned over on one of the turnpikes. It had cows in it. The headline from the newspaper there said that the "Tractor-Trailer was Cow Tipping!" That is terrible, as I am sure some of the cows got hurt from the wreck on the roadway. But that got me thinking about when my brother took me cow tipping back in Wyoming.

It is true. You can tip a cow when they are kind of sleeping, but standing up. Be careful, though -- they are not nice when they realize they have been "tipped."

When I moved to Washington, I was joking with a couple of people that we should go cow tipping.  Every person that I said this to had no idea what the heck I was talking about. I really was shocked! Who has never heard of cow tipping?

I now realize that it isn't very nice. But not to worry, the cow really doesn't tip over completely. You basically startle them and they get mad. It is almost impossible to completely tip over a cow.

Do people in Yakima cow-tip for fun?
