The ‘Metal Masters’ clinics have been a big success, and earlier this year they branched out to Los Angeles with a performance at the Key Club featuring Down‘s Philip Anselmo, Slayer‘s Kerry King and Dave Lombardo, and Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante and Frank Bello along with Adrenaline Mob’s Mike Portnoy, Megadeth’s David Ellefson and Chris Broderick and Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler turning up to lend a hand.

Having enjoyed that so much, Samson Technologies reports that a number of the same players are returning Sept. 7 at New York’s Gramercy Theater with a few additions for good measure. One major new addition to the bill is metal bassist extraordinaire Billy Sheehan, who has applied his trade in Mr. Big and as part of David Lee Roth’s solo band over the years.

Slayer and Anthrax are also using their pull to add a few faces that weren’t at the Los Angeles date. Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian and Slayer’s current guitar fill-in, Exodus’ Gary Holt, will also take part in the event. They’ll join the announced lineup of Philip Anselmo, Kerry King, Dave Lombardo, Charlie Benante, and Frank Bello, and it’s worth noting that these events typically have a few surprise guests as well.

‘Metal Masters 3′ featured the lineup running through such favorites as Slayer’s ‘Angel of Death’ and ‘Raining Blood’ as well as five tracks from Pantera‘s ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ album.

Tickets for the event are currently available here.
