As we've seen over the past decade plus, popular music is incredibly effective in helping to sell any number of products. And though insurance and banking are probably the last things you think of when you ponder tie-ins to rock 'n' roll, two acts who scored big in the '80s are giving their top hits another go in new TV commercials.

In the video above, you'll see Europe reviving their '80s anthem "The Final Countdown" for a new Geico commercial. In Geico's ongoing "It's What You Do" campaign, the band performs in a work break room, rocking the song as the seconds tick away on a worker's microwaved burrito. As the voice over states, "If you're the band Europe, you love a final countdown. It's what you do. If you want to save 15 percent on car insurance, you switch to Geico. It's what you do." Adding some interactive fun to things, Geico have also given viewers a chance to generate their own Europe-themed countdown at this location.

Meanwhile, Bank of America has tapped Billy Idol as the company's new commercial pitchman. In a pair of new spots, the commercial directors tie in Idol's usage of "more, more, more" in his '80s hit "Rebel Yell" to help promote the fact that Bank of America customers get 25 percent or more bonus rewards on their eligible credit cards. Watch as the three "suits" attempt to coax more "more" out of Billy to drive home the point in the spots below.

While Europe and Idol are getting the unexpected boost via the new commercials, both acts are still rocking around the world. Europe, not surprisingly, have a wealth of dates in Europe this fall while supporting their War of Kings album. See their itinerary here. Idol, meanwhile, just finished a summer run and has a number of September and October dates in North America, including stops at Music Midtown and the Austin City Limits Festival. His shows can be found here. He's supporting the Kings & Queens of the Underground album.
