Facebook Grants Father’s Wish to Create ‘A Look Back’ Video for Late Rock Guitarist

A man in Missouri posted a video yesterday (Feb. 5) on YouTube asking Facebook to create ‘A Look Back’ video for his late rock guitarist son, who passed away in January 2012. After the grieving dad’s video went viral, Facebook has agreed to grant him his wish.

This week, in celebration of its 10th anniversary, Facebook has unveiled videos that show highlights of each of their users’ timelines, creating a video diary of sorts. John Berlin took to YouTube, asking the following, “I’m calling out to Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook,” he continued. “You’ve been putting out these new movies, these one-minute movies that everyone’s been sharing. Well, my son passed away … and we can’t access his Facebook account. I’ve tried e-mailing, and different things, but it ain’t working. All we want to do is see his movie.”

As CNN reports, Facebook caught wind of Berlin’s plea and is in the process of creating ‘A Look Back’ video for his late son, Jesse, who died at the age of 21 in 2012. Jesse played rhythm guitar in a local rock band called Fivefold.

A Facebook representative explains, “With the number of people using our service, it’s often very difficult to act on behalf of one. But John’s story and emotion moved us to take action — so we did.” The tribute video has not been released to the public as of yet.
