All right, so we've worked out the kinks and everybody's still got George Thorogood songs running through their head after his Friday night.

What's up for today?

Well for starters, there's the Sunfair Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. at 16th and Yakima avenues and makes it way down Yakima Avenue to Naches Avenue. (And yes, "Ami Kay," the parade's Volkswagen Beetle mascot, will be there again, towing that enormous apple balloon.)

After that, the first thing we'll hit at the fair is the food booths (have you tried the deep-fried macaroni and cheese yet?) -- but we're trying not to overeat this time. We gotta save room for the hot dog eating contest at 5:15 p.m. at the Gazebo.

What else?

  • Dan James is putting on horsemanship shows in the Round Pen at noon, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Central Washington University's putting on daily S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering and math) demonstrations and contests in the Washington Building. (Don't worry -- no tests.)
  • Livestock judging's on from 10 a.m. until after 5:30 p.m. in the Durand Arena.
  • And don't forget Kansas is the headline act tonight at 7:30 on the Budweiser Stage.. Should be great weather for it -- no dust, no wind ...
