You've got until Oct. 17 to clear space on your DVR. That's when HBO will premiere the Foo Fighters' new documentary series 'Sonic Highways' --  a companion to the band's upcoming eighth full-length which was recorded in eight historic musical hot spots throughout the country, including Nashville, Chicago, Austin and Seattle.

Directed by frontman/renaissance man Dave Grohl, each one-hour episode of the series will be devoted to one of the musical landmarks the band visits along the way. According to a press release, the series will "chronicle the history, cultural environment and people defining that city's unique musical identity."

There's no word yet when the album will be released, but there's been much speculation that it will be during the same week as the show's premiere.

The eight-episode season will kick off at 11 p.m. EST on Friday, Oct. 17, with following installments to debut in the same time slot on subsequent Fridays. Check out a teaser trailer below:
