There’s no doubt the Foo Fighters rock, and it’s usually pretty hard when they do. But their efforts were not exactly embraced by everyone in the surrounding Belfast area Tuesday night (Aug. 21) as a number of people filed noise complaints during the band’s set on the opening night of Tennant’s Vital festival.

The BBC reports that the Belfast City Council received 120 complaint calls, while the local police also received numerous noise complaints as well. Local businesswoman Grainne McGarvey said, “I pretty much heard every ooh and ah and beat of the drum,” while Eileen Fee, who lives a mile away from the venue, claimed that her windows shook while the band played. “I just thought I was at the concert, that’s how loud it was,” said Fee. “It was really impossible to do anything else at home.”

Playing loud is nothing new for the Foo Fighters. Just last year, it was reported that the group’s performance In Auckland, New Zealand was so powerful that the city’s seismic stations within a two kilometer radius of Western Springs Stadium registered low frequency geological tremors. They also noticed a lull and increase in the frequency whenever the band ended and began songs.

For those wondering, it appears as though Manowar might be the loudest band on the planet. The group reportedly achieved an SPL of 139 decibels during a soundcheck at the Magic Circle Fest in 2008. Kiss reportedly has the highest actual concert sound level, as a 2009 show in Ottawa reached 136 decibels.

In other Foo Fighters news, Dave Grohl has issued two more video clips from his upcoming ‘Sound City‘ documentary. In them, both Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and REO Speedwagon‘s Kevin Cronin can be seen reflecting on their first memories of music. Both are posted below.
