Former Morbid Angel / Hate Eternal drummer Tim Yeung, former God Forbid guitarist Doc Coyle and a handful of other musicians paid tribute to late drummer Nick Menza with a performance of Megadeth’s “Symphony of Destruction.”

At Hollywood’s legendary Whisky A Go Go, the musicians converged on May 24 during the venue’s Ultimate Jam Night. Yeung and Coyle were joined onstage by guitarist / vocalist Howie Simon and bassist Ben White during the performance.

“I would like to raise a toast to Nick Menza,” the night’s host said onstage. “I love every beat that guy ever played, I love every melody Megadeth and [Menza] was in. A lot of people think that was the strongest version of that band and I’m kind of inclined to agree.”

On May 21, Nick Menza collapsed onstage while performing with OHM at the Baked Potato in Studio City, Calif. Menza’s autopsy revealed that heart failure was the cause of his death at just 51 years old.
