The big party at State Fair Park for the Fourth of July has been saved after two local companies stepped up to be title sponsors. Officials at State Fair Park say Tire Centers of Yakima and Yakima Federal Savings and Loan have teamed up to cover a $25,000 budget deficit created when the city of Yakima pulled support late last year because of budget challenges. The lack of funds threatened to cancel the event.

But State Fair Park President Greg Stewart says he's proud to see people in the community stepped up and help and preserve the event.
And not only will the fireworks and community gathering continue but also the annual battle of the bands Yakima Apple Jam is back as well. The event is free and open to the community on the Fourth of July.
