Godsmack's time off is giving the band members to spread their wings a little and explore some of their passions. For frontman Sully Erna, that means he's getting the opportunity to branch out to the big screen. The vocalist has signed on to make his feature film acting debut in the upcoming Woodhaven Pictures film 'Army of the Damned.'

According to Dread Central, the movie will feature Erna as one of a group of small town police officers who are being filmed by a reality TV crew when they get a domestic disturbance call that turns out to be something much more horrific and life threatening. In addition to Erna, the cast features former N*Sync member Joey Fatone, pro wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Thea Trinidad and actors Michael Berryman, Nick Principe, Jackie Moore and Tom Paolino. The film, directed by Tom DeNucci, is expected to start shooting in April.

During Godsmack's downtime, Erna has kept busy. He's booked a solo spring trek in support of his 'Avalon' album and has been taking select fans who purchased the solo disc box set on "golden ticket" adventures. He's also picked up his passion for poker once again.

However, Godsmack's plans to take 2013 off will not last for the full year. The band recently announced performances at Canada's Boonstock and Wisconsin's Rock USA festivals.
