Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale Not Voting for Presidential Candidate Who Builds Empire on ‘Division and Hate and Inequality’
As the election nears, a number of rockers have been weighing in with their thoughts on who should be president. But during a recent interview with Reno's Rock 104.5 host Kronik, Halestorm's Lzzy Hale shared her thoughts on politics and what will be one of the deciding factors in her decision.
Hale revealed in the interview that politics and religion are two subjects she doesn't really talk much about, because of their polarizing nature and people's rights to have their own opinions. But one thing that does strike her is how a subject like politics divides rather than unites.
"I'm an advocate for people. I love the human element, and we all share that. I'm into equality and I'm a people person," says Hale, who adds, "In all honesty, the problem that we have right now is that politics breeds hate and division; it just does that. So I can't, as a human, as a girl that has lived her life to kind of promote that type of positivity and that equality, I can't vote for anybody that even has an inkling of being that ... just building their empire on that type of division and hate and inequality. I can't out of good conscience do that." Hear more of Hale's chat with Reno's Rock 104.5 in the player above.
In an interview earlier this year, Hale threw her support behind Bernie Sanders, and said she wasn't a fan of Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.
Halestorm currently have North American shows booked through the end of the month, then will take a break from the road until playing a New Year's Eve show in Christchurch, New Zealand and continuing a tour of the country into early 2017. Dates can be seen here.
