Harrison Ford Wants to Use ‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ as a Way to Make ‘Indiana Jones 5′
The primary cast of the original ‘Star Wars‘ trilogy have all but guaranteed they’ll be showing up in the J.J. Abrams-directed ‘Star Wars: Episode 7,’ though there was a question if Harrison Ford would return. The latest report is that not only will Ford be back, he may be in for all three films in the new trilogy. And supposedly part of the deal to get Han Solo to return involves work starting on ‘Indiana Jones 5.’
This information comes from Jedi News, which puts it in the “grain of salt” category of rumors, but they say that Ford committed to appearing in the new series after he saw what his character arc would be, and now he’s supposedly signed on for a multi-picture deal. One of Ford’s demands was a commitment to make ‘Indy 5,’ which he did not get, but supposedly an outline must be prepared by the end of 2014 for a possible 2016 release.
Post-‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,’ we’re inclined to think this is a terrible idea, and we’re not sure we’d want to see a 73-year-old Jones knocking skulls around. But as the fifth film is likely to make nearly a billion dollars worldwide, and Ford would make millions upon millions of dollars for another go around (he got $65 million for ‘Crystal Skull’), we get why he might be inclined to return to the hat and the whip.
