Spring is finally here and in full bloom, and since you're already dosing up with the allergy meds you might as well head out for a lunch hike.

If you're lucky enough to get away for an hour for lunch, I highly recommend it.

There are many places to start from just for the Greenway alone, so there is bound to be a place near your place of work.

I love heading out to Cowiche Canyon, but that drive takes a little too much time for a hike in between.

My favorite spot on certain clear days is on the Yakima Greenway along Highway 12, which has views of Mount Adams.

Generally, this is a highly visible and frequently used portion of the Greenway, so if you use common sense you should be fine jogging or hiking during the day. Don't use headphones if you're alone, try and have a friend tag along, and keep pepper spray or other discreet surprises in your car in case you decide to go for a hike.

I like to grab some to-go sushi from Freddy's on the way and eat it in the car before heading out. It is nice to listen to the river pass by.
