Jane’s Addiction End Their Short-Lived Hiatus, Book ‘Nothing’s Shocking’ Shows in Las Vegas
The wait is finally over! After a long, grueling hiatus which lasted all but two weeks, Jane's Addiction are back and ready to rock!
In October 2013, Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell hinted that not all was well within Jane's Addiction via a Facebook post. “This final leg of the Jane’s tour- which took us through the Americas was very taxing – both physically and mentally," Farrell wrote. "Fights broke out in camp from every angle. There was a loss of band family members, betrayal of confidence, lacks of appreciation, and flatout acts of stupidity that brought me back to grade school. After their games- footballers must feel the same way I do this Sunday. Bruised and bloodied, nursing their wounds. Happy in pain- they still won the game….” [via Alternative Nation]
On Jan. 15, Rolling Stone published an interview with Perry Farrell, and according to the Jane's vocalist, the alt rock group was taking a break so Farrell could focus on an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) musical about the sex and drug trades in Thailand. “This is a pretty massive undertaking,” said Farrell, “so Jane’s Addiction is going to take a hiatus. It’ll be a couple of years before you see Jane’s again."
Apparently, Farrell and the rest of Jane's Addiction had second thoughts, as they are currently booked to play Las Vegas from May 8-10. The news broke when Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, which opens March 8, released their initial calendar of shows. Jane's Addiction are billed to play their classic debut album, 'Nothing's Shocking,' in full during the Vegas shows.
In a separate Rolling Stone article posted today (Jan. 29), Farrell explained the band's Vegas situation. "We had a blast performing at our event during the CES show this month," Farrell begins, "so we decided that Vegas would be a great spot for a final celebration of our 25th anniversary. Jane's is first and foremost always a great live experience. Just because we are on break doesn't mean we won't go play a great gig if one comes up."
