Today marks the one year anniversary of the death of the great guitarist from Slayer, Jeff Hanneman. I remember when we got the news that he had died and I just sat there. I have seen them numerous times live and every time I went I couldn't keep my eyes off of his shredding and stage presence. Hanneman died of liver failure on May 2, 2013, in a Southern California hospital near his home. The official cause of death was not announced until some days later. The determined that his death was caused by an alcohol-related cirrhosis.

Jeff wrote 3 of my favorite Slayer songs. 'Raining Blood', 'South Of Heaven' and 'Angel of Death'.

The great metal band Slayer will continue on with replacements but no one will truly be able to stand up to Jeff. The have some tough shoes to fill.

God rest you metal brother in heaven. May there be an amp loud enough for you in the sky!
