Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) and Incubus leader Brandon Boyd are among the rockers who will make the transition to a different sort of stage for the upcoming traveling production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’

Rolling Stone reports that a 51-city arena tour has been booked for the production, with British actor/singer Ben Forster continuing to play the title role. Forster has been with the production for shows in the U.K. and Australia since 2012. In addition to Rotten, who will play King Herod, and Boyd, who will portray Judas Iscariot, the production will also include pop stars Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child fame and *NSYNC‘s JC Chasez.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice penned the musical that debuted in 1971 about the final days of Jesus Christ. Webber said in a statement about the new production, “‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ began life as a rock album. Of course, ‘JCS’ subsequently became a legit theatre stalwart, but I, personally, have always hankered after seeing it again in the arenas where it started.”

Rice, meanwhile, expressed his satisfaction at seeing ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ still going 43 years after it initially debuted. He added, “This new production presents the work in its most powerful format — as a true rock experience.”

Boyd stated of his involvement, “I am so thrilled to be a part of this amazing production. I grew up on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classics and never imagined I would be playing a role in one, let alone with such an incredibly diverse cast of players.” As for Rotten, he stated, “I’m here to sing with the King of the Jews. Who could ask for anything more?’
