You don't get to be a grownup without learning a few things, and one of the few things I've learned is that you're not going to get too far trying to talk hardcore Judas Priest fans out of much of anything.

Case in point: the band's classic song, "You've Got Another Thing Coming." I got into an online row with a couple of diehard Priest defenders a few years ago and never could bring any of them around on one key point: That song's title is based on getting an old American expression wrong. (Judas Priest is from England, right? So maybe that's the problem.)

Anyway, not to sound too much like your old high school English teacher, but here's the background on the saying, according to The Grammarist:

"Another think coming is the original form of the colloquial phrase aimed at someone who has a mistaken view. It comes from the old comical expression, If that’s what you think, you’ve got another think coming.

"Because think in the second part of the expression is (intentionally) ungrammatical, some people hear another thing coming and repeat it as such. Plus, another thing coming usually makes literal sense, so it’s now more common than another think coming."

See what I'm saying? Aw, well. Like I said, those Judas Priest guys never did, either.

That's it for today -- now go home and study. We'll have the test tomorrow.
