There is not much that Aerosmith does that I do not like, even when some of it isn't their own. But a lot of bands take things from the old blues guys. Blues guys always did it right, so of course some want to model after them. Steven Tyler is no different. The song was written by him and Joe but the chant probably dated back to early slavery. He asked permission from Taj Mahal, thinking that he wrote the chant that you will hear in the song. But it turns out the blues artist Lead Belly is the writer, and his estate sued Aerosmith for the right.

Nonetheless, it is still one of my favorite Aerosmith tunes.
