There was a disturbance in the force Sunday evening as actor/filmmaker Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack.

Smith had just performed one of two comedy shows scheduled for Sunday evening at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Doctors said if he had performed the second he would have died Sunday night.

"After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack," Smith said via Twitter. "The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!"

Instead of being scared as thoughts of impending death circulated around his brain, Smith said instead he had a sense of calm having had such an accomplished career and great life.

Still, a brush with death of one our favorite filmmakers gets one thinking about his best movie moments as an actor or director.
