Congratulations to metal icon King Diamond and wife Livia Zita for becoming parents for the first time. Like with his vocal abilities, King Diamond (aka Kim Bendix Petersen) has proven age is only a number, bringing his first son into the world at age 61.

King Diamond and Livia Zita “met” for the first time in the mid-‘90s, after a teenaged Zita interviewed the falsetto vocal icon for the Hungarian edition of Metal Hammer magazine. Not too long after, she became a backing vocalist for King, a position she’s held for the last 14 years. She first appeared on 2003’s The Puppet Master, later giving her voice to the 2004 live album Deadly Lullabyes and King Diamond’s most recent full-length, 2007’s Give Me Your Soul… Please.

"We were both going through a hard time in our lives," King Diamond told BT.dk. "And we clicked. At some point, I asked her if she would send a photograph of herself. We had talked together for months. But I didn't know how old Livia was… nor how she looked, and when she told me how old she was, I simply couldn't believe it."

Zita added, “He went to Hungary, where he, on our first night together, proposed both in English and in German — so that my father would understand it. I, of course, said yes. He and I are just made for each other."

The newborn is reportedly three months old, so it's possible his son was conceived on July 7, the seventh day of the seventh month.

Congratulations to King Diamond and Livia Zita on their first child! King Diamond only has one tour date booked for the rest of 2017, performing Aug. 19 at Psycho Las Vegas.
