Despite a disappointing voter turnout and months of legal wrangling over district lines, officials from the Yakima County auditor's office report that a Yakima city vote seems to have settled six City Council vacancies. A seventh -- between Carmen Méndez and Kelly Rosenow for District 3 -- was just 48 votes apart. Méndez leads 597-549.
Meantime, five other local cities were deciding contested mayoral races.
