Lollapalooza May Expand to Toronto Next Year
Lollapalooza has done its share of shape-shifting since its inception back in 1991. After the high-profile music festival took the show off the road in 2004 and planted itself as a you-come-to-us event, it’s held a home base in Chicago. In 2015, the fest is looking to expand to Toronto.
According to Consequence of Sound, Jeff Cohen, organizer of the Toronto Urban Roots Festival, has announced that his city will, in fact, host the legendary festival next year. “Lollapoloza is surely coming to Toronto next August 2015, and it’ll be very interesting to see how that changes the summer landscape in our great city,” Cohen said.
Lollapalooza organizers haven’t confirmed any of this, but the move could be, in part, based on the success of Riot Fest, which has held similar festivals in various key cities instead of taking itself on the road or limiting itself to just one location.
