Machine Head: Did Avenged Sevenfold Rip Off Our ‘Lion Crest’ Logo?

Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn recently took a shot at Avenged Sevenfold, claiming that the band lifted hooks from prominent metal bands for their 2013 album, ‘Hail to the King,’ which Flynn also called a “covers album.” Now, Machine Head are suggesting that Avenged Sevenfold have stolen something from them, as well.

Robb Flynn really laid into Avenged Sevenfold this September after ‘Hail to the King’ reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200, selling a total of 159,000 copies during its first week. The Machine Head leader accused Avenged Sevenfold, half-jokingly, of “re-recording Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and Megadeth songs” before writing a David Letterman-style Top 10 list of ‘Hail to the King’ jokes.

Earlier today (Oct. 4), Machine Head re-posted a side-by-side photo of their old ‘lion crest’ logo along with A7X’s stage backdrop that posted yesterday, asking fans whether they think that Avenged ripped off their logo. See the full Facebook post below:

How about it, Loudwire readers? Is it possible that Avenged Sevenfold ripped off Machine Head’s longtime logo? Or is it just a coincidence?

Meanwhile, in a new interview, Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows once again addressed Robb Flynn’s claim that A7X ripped off other bands on their new album. “I think, more than anything, [Robb’s comments] brought a lot of attention to the record,” Shadows tells Boston’s WAAF [via Blabbermouth]. “I saw a lot of people saying, ‘Oh, well, I didn’t like Avenged before, but now I’m gonna check it out, and I like this record.’ So that was kind of funny.”

Shadows adds, “I don’t really care what anyone says, but when people ask you about it over and over, you have to have some sort of response. And my response is just, look, I know the guy. He can say whatever he says. He’s a grown-ass adult. He’s 40-something years old and has an opinion on our record. I guess he can write and say whatever he wants.”
