Aubrey McClendon, 20 percent owner of the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA franchise, was killed in a single-car crash today according to a story published by ESPN.com's Royce Young.

Oklahoma City P.D. is on record as saying that McClendon was not wearing a seat belt and was traveling well over the speed limit when his vehicle slammed head first into a concrete pillar before catching on fire.

The Thunder's minority-share owner was charged with rigging no-bid oil and natural gas contracts. Each violation carries with it a 10 year prison sentence and $1 million fine.
