Mark Tremonti: We’re Performing Classic Creed Tracks Better Than Ever

It’s hard to believe, but the boys of Creed celebrate the 15th anniversary of their multiplatinum debut album, ‘My Own Prison,’ this year. Of course, a milestone like that can’t go by without some kind of celebration, and in that spirit, the guys — singer Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bass player Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips — are setting out on a North American tour this April. The band will play their entire ‘My Own Prison’ and ‘Human Clay’ albums in their entirety on different nights of the tour, so it’s a true gala of all things Creed.

Even though band members have played through the ‘My Own Prison’ and ‘Human Clay’ albums hundreds of times over the years, it’s been a while since they’ve played every single track in their sets. Even so, guitarist Mark Tremonti tells Loudwire that he thinks the songs sound even better today than they did in the late-‘90s and early-‘00s, thanks to a much more experienced band in toe.

“I feel like we have a lot more experience and we can perform these songs better now,” Tremonti said. “We didn’t start rehearsing until the 2nd, and actually Brian [Marshall, bass player] and I sat down today and started working on the stuff, and we have a lot of learning to do, because a lot of these songs we haven’t played live in 13 years, and we’ll have to learn most of all four albums to do this tour, and it’s a lot to memorize.”

Check back for Loudwire’s full interview with Tremonti in the coming weeks.
