This past summer, during one of their three sold-out shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Arcade Fire called upon the one and only Marky Ramone to join them for a pair of Ramones classics. The former drummer for the legendary punk band got up to whip through versions of ‘I Don’t Wanna Go Down to the Basement’ and ‘I Wanna Be Sedated.’

In an exclusive interview with Diffuser, Marky recalls the way that night unfolded. "I was in the neighborhood, cause I live near there. I get a call from their agent, 'Oh, they'd like you to do two Ramones songs with them.' The band was in the middle of a sold-out three night stand in New York City and decided to pay tribute to the Ramones."

He goes on, "They asked me to play two songs with them. We rehearsed it acoustically, me banging on my sneaker, and them with their acoustic guitars ... It was that simple. They're Ramones fans. I'm very honored that they took the time out to learn the songs. It was a lot of fun that night."
