The School of Rock is one of the most exciting music education programs in existence. The name implies exactly what the organization is all about, providing a place for kids to come together and learn about music through a first-hand experience, playing together and performing in front of a live audience. The school has locations across the country and the Frisco, Texas location will be getting a special visit from Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine on Feb. 19.

If you're going to learn to play rock and metal, why not learn from one of the best guitar players to ever lay his fingers on the fretboard? Known for his technical prowess and complex songwriting, Mustaine has been melting faces for over three decades and has a wealth of experience to help guide these young musicians as they navigate the waters of their own budding careers.

Getting lessons from Mustaine would surely be a highlight in itself, but he will also be joining students onstage to perform a few Megadeth classics together in front of the rest of the school, contest winners from the Forth Worth, Texas area and the families of the students! In the summer of 2015, students in Los Angeles had a similar experience, sharing the stage with another Megadeth great, bassist David Ellefson.

School of Rock CEO Dzana Homan commented (via Blabbermouth) on the upcoming visit, stating, “At School of Rock, we strive to provide cutting-edge opportunities that sharpen our students’ instrument skills and strengthen their dedication. We are fortunate to have rock legend Dave Mustaine share his musical expertise. His passion for rock ‘n’ roll is the ultimate inspiration that will motivate our students to channel their inner rock stars.”

The visit will come one day before Megadeth kick off their tour in Dallas with Suicidal Tendencies, Children of Bodom and Havok. The thrash heroes will be out in support of their newest album, Dystopia, which lit up the Billboard 200 charts, debuting at No. 3.
