The unofficial kick-off to summer, Memorial Day weekend, is one of the most heavily traveled of the year. If you will be driving on eastbound I-90 near the Vantage Bridge and westbound near Cle Elum, expect delays and back-ups with the increased traffic.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews are painting the Vantage Bridge across the Columbia River. A single lane closure for eastbound drivers is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until the end of summer. Drivers will experience delays of an hour or more between noon and 10 p.m. on Friday, May 27. Drivers are encouraged to delay their trips to avoid these travel times or find an alternate route via US 97, I-82 or SR 24. The westbound lanes will not be impacted.

Drivers will experience delays of an hour or more westbound near Cle Elum between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 30. Again, drivers are encouraged delay their trips to avoid these travel times.

For more information regarding delays, follow the DOT on Twitter @wsdot_east, tune into the Highway Advisory Radio at 1610 AM or 530 AM or check the Travel Alerts Webpage.
